Christine's cousin Liane and her husband Dave are in Boston this week on a vacation/business trip. It's ironic that it takes a trip to New England for us to get together - they are also from Arizona. While their sons when rock climbing we met Dave and Liane at 1 Patriot Place in Foxboro for Brunch. 1 Patriot Place is the address of Gillette Stadium where the New England Patriots play. It was great spending some time and catching up with them. Our picture is tilted because the camera was sitting on the roof of a car, I didn't realize the camera was sitting on the curve of the roof. :-)
Earlier this morning Christine and sat on the bed with the US Atlas between us and brainstormed where we would go today. We discussed going south into Rhode Island and Connecticut or west into New York. We were totally clueless and finally made the decision based on less dense population west versus lots more people to our immediate south. Well... It paid off. We bumbled onto route 9 out of Worcester
(that's pronounced Wuster), route 202 going north past a really neat lake, and then route 2 all the way into Albany, New York. We wound through some of the most colorful and beautiful country we have seen on this trip - the mountains are called "The Berkshires". We took these pictures from the middle of a bridge that was at least 100 feet from the river it spanned. I admit it freaked me out and I wouldn't stand next to the rail. Sorry Christine, you married a wimp.
A little later we drove up a ridge and came out into a clearing that gave us a breath taking view of a lake on the top of a nearby mountain. It has not been common for us to see more than a hundred feet in front of us. We are so lucky to have this time together and the opportunity to travel the US and Canada.
We are spending the night in a hotel in Albany, New York. Here is the view of the New York State Capitol from our room.
